Water and Environmental Testing Services

Water Quality Testing

Water and Environmental testing & compliance contributes to a safe, healthy environment for all. Water is one of our most important natural resources. Access to safe drinking water and irrigation is crucial for society and agriculture.

At Cropnuts, we offer water quality analysis services that allow you to test for the presence of pathogens like E. coli as well as heavy metal contaminants in drinking water. Saline water is common in the volcanic and coastal waters of Kenya, and here at Cropnuts we can help you by testing ground water for salinity and calcium levels (water hardness) that affects how suitable it is for irrigation.

All our chemical tests for water quality are ISO 17025 accredited, and our reports comply with national and international requirements, so we can tell you if your water is safe to drink or not. If we detect any problems, we can also help you understand the different water treatment options.

With our water and environmental testing, we will help you comply with the law, as well as help protect the environment.

What we offer

  • State of the art test facilities, methods and protocols which comply with World Health Organisation (WHO) standards and meet the Kenyan regional Environmental authorities (NEMA) requirements

Water Quality Analysis Services

Cropnuts offer services to measure the quality of water used on farms, in residential properties and on commercial premises. All our tests meet NEMA, WHO and KEBS certified standards.

Irrigation water tests quantify water pH and salinity, as well as the amount of sodium and bicarbonates in your irrigation water. All these things can limit plant growth and, at high enough levels, even poison your crops.

We can help you identify and correct these problems, which is especially important before installing expensive irrigation systems.

We all want to know that our drinking water is safe. The Cropnuts drinking water analysis gives you peace of mind by checking the quality of drinking water in residential, and commercial properties. We run the full range of tests, including minerology, physical characteristics and microbial contamination. All our tests meet the WHO and NEMA approved standards.

Full Water Analysis

The full list of water properties includes:

  • Chemical properties: Mineral composition including pH, EC, nitrate, ammonium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, sulphate, fluoride, copper, iron, zinc, manganese and bicarbonates. We also measure heavy metals: lead, nickel, copper, cadmium, chromium, zinc & boron.
  • Physical properties: Total Suspended Solids, turbidity, colour.
  • Microbial Analysis: Total bacterial count, faecal coliforms, E. coli, streptococcus, salmonella, pseudomonas and vibrio cholera.

Before purchasing land or investing in new projects, we recommend water risk analysis testing. This measures the quality and composition of water you intend to use, taking into account salts, heavy metals, pesticide residues, water borne diseases and the pathogens present in your water.

Knowing the risks helps you to justify your investments, and we if we do find any issues we can also help you assess the best ways of treating the water so it’s safe for use.

Industrial water quality testing helps organisations, manufacturing companies, restaurants & lodges, and institutions manage their waste water in compliance to the NEMA environment guidelines.

We are accredited by NEMA to offer environmental testing services. Our auto-analyser equipment is manufactured especially for industrial waste water/ effluent analysis, providing rapid and accurate results every time.

We carry out these analyses for multiple different industries, including hotels, hospitals and other commercial ventures, and our analysis includes heavy metals, total microorganism count, oxygen levels and multiple other parameters stipulated by NEMA and KEBS.
